Vin Diesel decided to pay tribute to his late friend Paul Walker by naming his newborn baby girl Pauline, the actor announced on Monday during his guest appearance on the Today show.

Diesel was speaking to Natalie Morales about the birth of his third child and said, “While I was in the hospital, the name that I will give you is… I named her… I named her Pauline,” said the actor overwhelmed by emotions.

The 47-year-old action star and his girlfriend Paloma Jimenez, 31, have a daughter Hania, 6, and a son Vincent, 4. They welcomed the new addition to the family on March 16 in Los Angeles.

As for naming the baby after Walker, Diesel shared, “There’s no other person that I was thinking about as I was cutting this umbilical cord. I just thought… I knew he was there and it felt like, you know, a way to keep his memory a part of my family and a part of my world.”

Paul Walker died in a tragic car accident in November 2013 and Vin Diesel has been very vocal about his grief, often being quoted for saying, “I lost my best friend. I lost my brother”.
