Her barbed one-liners could make you love her or hate her in a matter of seconds. Joan was definitely one of the most unique people in the entertainment industry for over 50 years.
No one was safe from her zings and there won’t ever be anyone else with such a natural talent and flow for offending. The actress will always be remembered for her stand-ups, legendary put-downs and notorious insults towards celebrities of all calibers.
1. Joan vs. Chelsea Handler
Most female comedians today look at Rivers as a female comedy Jesus. For them, Rivers paved the way for women in the comedy sphere of the industry and made it acceptable for them to be just as raunchy and racy as their male counterparts.
Chelsea Handler is definitely not one of them. Handler told Howard Stern on his show “What do I care about Joan Rivers? I don’t think about her ever.”
Appearing on the same show soon after Handler, Rivers shared her thoughts on the matter, saying that she (Handler) slept her way to the top (referring to ex-boyfriend, E! president Ted Harbert) and for having no respect. “No. 1, the girl made it on her back f***ing the president, we all know that, of the network,” Rivers told. “No. 2, she’s fine, she’s ordinary. She’s not a genius.”
I would not be in the least bit surprised if she was the reason why her husband overdosed on pills back in 1987. Rivers was one of the nastiest women in the world, to call her a comedian is an insult to the real comics in the business. The same goes for Don Rickles, another nasty waste of skin.
This is why, when she was admitted to a Hospital, she never left. I bet there was a hit on this bit!
“pierced her ears and gravy came out” …….now that was funny.
