Suzette Charles Isn’t Buying Into Vanessa Williams’ Apology

September 15, 2015

Famed actress, singer and former beauty queen Vanessa Williams finally got her overdue apology, but it may not be a happy closure as everyone thought.

Suzette Charles, the woman who replaced Williams as Miss America, said that she isn’t buying into the apology that Williams got from the pageant’s organizers, and that she believes it was done for ratings.

The 52-year-old former Miss said: “I don’t know what that was all about. I have a feeling that was about ratings. I think that as accomplished as she is, has worked so tirelessly for 32 years to build her career and to prove to America what she was always about, I’m not sure why she needed that apology.”

Williams, also 52-years-old, returned to the pageant stage after 30 whole years on Sunday night, and she received an official apology from the Miss America organizers. Williams got her crown taken away from her all those years ago due to some nude photographs that caught mass media attention only a few months after she had been crowned.

Regarding the apology, the popular actress (who recently got married) said that it was “so unexpected but so beautiful.”
