Legendary rock and grunge musician, Chris Cornell, has died unexpectedly at the age of 52. Cornell’s death was “sudden and unexpected” as it was stated in a first press release.

Chris Cornell was the lead singer of the bands “ Soundgarden” and “ Audioslave.” His representative has just confirmed that the rock star died on Wednesday night in Detroit after performing with Soundgarden at the Fox Theatre.

Soundgarden were in the middle of their North American headline tour and the band were due to play six more dates, including Columbus’s Rock On The Range festival on Friday.

After the tour, Soundgarden was supposed to resume their work on a new album.

A medical examiner is currently working to determine the cause of death. Cornell’s family have asked for privacy during this hard time while they come to terms with the awful news.

In a statement made to The Associated Press, Brian Bumberry (PR) described his death as “ sudden and unexpected.”

Our thoughts are with Chris’s family and friends in this difficult time.

Off to the “Superunknown,“ my friend…
