“Modern Family” actress Sarah Hyland has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend Matthew Prokop! As the reason for the restraint, Hyland claims she was choked, pushed, and threatened by Prokop. The 24-year-old claims she experienced four years of abuse at the hands of Prokop during their relationship.
Hyland describes an incident where she claims she was pinned against a car during an argument with Prokop in May. During the altercation she says the young man choked her and called her names over and over again.
In the documents, Hyland claims that Prokop’s grip was so tight that she could not breathe or speak, and she was scared and in fear for her life.
Hyland then describes how she got Bowen involved to help her peacefully end the relationship. The actress flew out her boyfriend to his home in Texas earlier this year. When Prokop arrived and saw everyone in his house, including Bowen, he “ran outside into the backyard and began screaming.” Hyland then says that Prokop threw a lighter at her, which triggered Bowen to step in and get her out of the house as she wasn’t safe.
She also claims that her 24-year-old boyfriend threatened to commit arson by setting one of her homes on fire and to even get rid of her dog.
Sarah then continues to state that her former boyfriend “relentlessly bombarded me with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails including his own suicide threats” after their split.
The former couple started dating after the on met on auditions for “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” in 2008.
Prokop entered rehab in August. Hyland claims in the court documents that someone who worked at the centre contacted her when Prokop got out of rehabilitation and advised her to get a restraining order due to his mental state. The restraining order requires Prokop to stay at least 300 feet away from the actress and her dog.
