Famed Poison drummer Rikki Rockett made a shocking revelation on Tuesday, December 15th, when he said that he’s currently battling oral cancer.

The 54-year-old musician was talking with Eddie Trunk on his radio show, Eddie Trunk Live, when he shared what he has been going through.

According to the famous drummer, a tumor was found at the base of his tongue back in June. Rockett went had a follow up last week, and according to his doctors, he’s doing excellent.

He will get a PET scan in early February which will tell whether there’s any more activity.

The doctors are optimistic and they suspect there won’t be any traces of activity, so the music star has his fingers crossed.

The Poison musician explained that his particular type of cancer is very treatable. Rockett did 35 rounds of radiation, 5 days a week for 7 weeks.

“I went, ‘Okay, this is what I’m gonna do. I wanna beat it, so I’m just gonna go head first into this.’” He also admitted to Trunk that battling cancer has been the hardest thing he ever had to deal with in his life. “I’ve had a decent life. We all go through our stuff. So for me, it was really just a battle that I had to get through, and I got to the point where I couldn’t really talk. I had 16 canker sores in my mouth at one time.”
