Nicki Minaj Didn’t Slam Iggy Azalea After All

July 3, 2014

After the awkward, odd and sort of inspiring acceptance speech at the BET Awards held on June 29, during which seemed that she dissed fellow rapper and nominee Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj cleared the thing up on Twitter.

“The media puts words in my mouth all the time and this is no different. I will always take a stance on women writing b/c I believe in us! I believe we’re smart enough to write down our own thoughts and perspective, just like men do.

I’ve been saying this for 5 YEARS. I’ve congratulated Iggy on the success of Fancy, publicly. She should be very proud of that. All the women nominated should be proud. That will never change my desire to motivate women to write. Our voices have to be heard. I hope I inspire up & coming females to do that.”

Well, it seems that’s it. And although we’re glad there’s no beef among them, we’re still kind of suspicious. But kudos for Nicki on spreading the word on equality among sexes, especially in the male-ruled world of rap.
