Lady Gaga Steals Show, Brie Larson Moved By Her Performance

March 1, 2016

The most anticipated night in the film industry has come and gone, and the 88th Academy Awards will mostly be remembered as being an all-white nominee affair, and the night Leonardo DiCaprio finally took home the highest prize.

Still, one lady stole the show, Lady Gaga that is, with her performance of her Oscar-nominated song, “Til It Happens to You.” Her song is featured in The Hunting Ground and it explores sexual assault on college campuses.

Lady Gaga’s performance was followed by a group of sexual assault survivors, and as powerful as Gaga was on stage she didn’t win an Oscar.

She did, however, inspire the crowd to give her a standing ovation, AND she prompted Best Actress winner Brie Larson to hug every single assault survivor as they left the stage following Gaga’s emotional show.

Brie Larson won an Oscar for her role in Room, in which she portrays a young mother held captive with her son.
Despite not winning, Lady Gaga knows how to appreciate the good things in her life:

“I never thought anyone would ever love me because I felt like my body was ruined by my abuser. But he [Taylor Kinney] loves the survivor in me. He’s stood by me all night proud and unashamedly. THAT’S a real man,” she said following the awards ceremony.
