Without a doubt, presidential candidates need celebrity endorsements and influential people in their corner if they are to be taken seriously by enough voters to win an election.
In the latest attempt to try and stop Donald Trump in his presidential bid, an online organization created a campaign called Stop Hate, Dump Trump, calling the Republican hopeful “a grave threat to democracy, freedom, human rights, equality, and the welfare of our country and all our people.”
The list of celebrities who have joined the campaign keeps getting longer by the minute, and so far includes Kerry Washington, Lily Tomlin, Connie Britton, Cynthia Nixon, Jane Fonda, Danny Glover, Harry Belafonte, Thandie Newton, Dylan McDermott, Rosie O’Donnell, Macy Gray, Roseanne Barr and director Michael Moore.
With Trump continuing to make comments, such as “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters,” which is what he said at a campaign rally in Iowa on Saturday, the list of famous individuals “begging” Trump to go back to being a businessman will only continue to grow.
