Kathy Griffin is leaving Fashion Police. The 54-year-old comedian announced the news on Thursday via Twitter.
”I thought that I could bring my brand of humor to Fashion Police so beautiful people in beautiful dresses could be teased when appropriate. I do not want to use my comedy to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference. I want to help women, gay kids, people of color, and anyone who feels underrepresented to have a voice and a LAUGH.”
Griffin publically defended Rancic, who said Zendaya’s dreadlocks look like she “smells like patchouli oil or weed”, but also added she never would have made that comment herself.
Griffin, who joined the show in January, is the second host to leave in three weeks, after Kelly Osbourne quit to “pursue other opportunities”.
The show’s producers say Fashion Police will return as planned on March 30.
