In a recent interview for Harper’s Bazaar Kate says it is nice to have some time on her own.
“It’s nice to get acquainted with myself alone. You know, the goal when you get into a relationship is not to be out of the relationship. It’s to try and stay in the relationship. But if it doesn’t work, you can’t force things,” says Kate.
Different Visions of their Future
In December 2014, the former couple officially announced they were calling off their engagement and their four-year relationship, however, Kate and Matt did remain friends and co-parents to their four-year-old son Bingham.
Shortly after the split, the actress said the breakup was the best option as the two had different ideas of their future together.
“Relationships ending are painful, and you can choose to carry that or you can choose to reframe it. If Matt and I had a great relationship, we would still be together, but we chose to move on because we had different visions of how we wanted to live our lives,” Kate said to Allure at the time.
“That doesn’t mean, though, that we can’t rebuild something that would be the best thing for the kids.”
