Adam Sandler has finally been swept from the most irritating throne ever, and someone who you least expected is the new King of Overpayment. Hollywood icon and one of the most famous faces on the planet, Johnny Depp, has been named the most overpaid actor of 2015.

Although Sandler held the title for two years, he was deemed ineligible due to his new Netflix deal.

The 52-year-old Depp was the runner-up for 2014, so he took over the throne this year. This year’s second place went to Denzel Washington.

According to Forbes, Depp’s recent films Mortdecai and Transcendence returned a mere $1.20 for every $1 he was paid.

This is an unusual thing, since his films used to make huge amounts of money. Just the last four Pirates Of The Caribbean movies grossed out $3.7 bilion

Mortdecai earned just $47 million, while it cost $60 million to make. 2014’s Transcendence barely made back what it cost, around $100 million, while Black Mass earned $94.5 million.

Other three A-listers on Forbes’ top five overpaid lists are Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, and Will Smith.
