Famed TV show actor Jared Padalecki has had a tough time. The Supernatural star and Gilmore Girls alum has been battling depression, and the fans of Supernatural at Comic-Con decided to honor his ongoing battle.
The campaign is set up to support those dealing with depression, addiction, mental illness, and suicidal thoughts.
Along with raising their faux candles in the air, the fans shouted “Always Keep Fighting!”
Padalecki was absolutely touched and overwhelmed, as he said that he could never have the proper words to thank them, adding that he’s deeply humbled and honored.
The handsome actor first spoke about his battle against depression last year, when he also revealed the launch of his campaign: “There’s no shame in having to fight every day. But fighting every day, and presumably, if you’re still alive to hear these words or read this interview, then you are winning your war. You’re here. You might not win every battle. There are going to be some really tough days. There might be several tough times in any given single day, but hopefully, this will help somebody to think, ‘This isn’t easy; it is a fight, but I’m going to keep fighting.’”
Padalecki was diagnosed with clinical depression back in Supernatural’s season 3, when he went to his trailer to get changed, and he completely broke down. He wasn’t happy with where he was in life, and it all consumed him in that moment. A doctor came to him and talked to him for 45 minutes, after which he diagnosed him.
