Former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff has apparently been dissatisfied with his last name so he decided to officially change it and it is was a “massive relief” for him.

David, whose nickname is “The Hoff”, has recently posted a new video on YouTube in which he explains why he decided to do this in the first place.

The Hoff revealed that he wasn’t the fan of his original last name and that he wanted to actually and officially be The Hof for years.

“I’ve been wanting to drop the Hassel from my life for years. Now I have made it official,” said the 63-year-old actor in the video in which he is also showing legal documents with his new name on them – David Hoff.

In another post, this time on Twitter, David shared the good news with his many fans, writing: “Big news today and a massive relief for me. I hope everyone can understand… it feels great!

But is this for real?

Apparently not. After a plethora of questions that came from the fans, his rep had to come out with what was actually going on.

“It’s an excerpt from an ad campaign that launches in Australia this weekend. David is just having some fun and more will be revealed in the next 24 hours,” the confirmed to Us Weekly.

Well played, Hoff. Well played.
