Gisele Bündchen Announces Her Retirement From The Runway

March 19, 2015

The Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen announced she will be retiring from the runway after 20 years of active catwalking.

Bündchen has been the highest earning supermodel for 8 straight years but the 34-year-old beauty no longer wishes to take part in fashion shows and would rather focus on her family and other business opportunities.

Gisele is married to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and has two children, Benjamin and Vivian.

Patricia Bündchen, Gisele’s sister and representative, released a statement on Wednesday explaining the supermodel’s future plans. “Gisele will focus on special projects and also spending more time on her number one priority: her family.”

A Brazilian newspaper announced last Friday that Gisele will bid farewell to catwalking at São Paulo Fashion Week in April, which is fitting given that the supermodel built her empire in her native Brazil.

Retiring from runways doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of Gisele. On the contrary, she still plans to remain active in campaigns, fashion partnerships and as a spokesperson.
