George Michael’s Cause of Death Finally Revealed

March 7, 2017

George Michael‘s friends, family and fans finally have a closure as a coroner reveals the pop legend died of natural causes.

It was stated that George passed away of natural causes from dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver. The official statement by Oxfordshire’s senior coroner, Darren Salter, reads:

“Inquiries into the death of George Michael have been concluded and the final post mortem report received. As there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, the investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further inquiries,” said the coroner in the statement and added:

“No further updates will be provided and the family requests the media and public respect their privacy.”

Dilated Cardiomyopathy & Myocarditis

Dilated Cardiomyopathy attacks the heart muscle, causing it to stretch and become thin, which results in poor strength of the heart muscle and affects how blood is pumped throughout the whole body.

The disease is inherited in some cases, but it can also be acquired via viral infections, uncontrolled high blood pressure, excessive drinking or existing problems with the heart valves.

As for myocarditis, this is an inflammation that spreads around the heart, also usually caused by a viral, bacterial or fungal infection.

Fatty Liver

Fatty liver, on the other hand, can be a non-alcoholic one, in which case the fat builds up around the liver and is usually seen in people who are obese or overweight, while the alcoholic fatty liver is usually caused by heavy and excessive drinking.

The 53-year-old George Michael was found dead by his partner, Fadi Fawaz, on 25th of December 2016, at his home in Goring-on-Thames.
