Everyone’s getting married! The world’s favorite nanny, Fran Drescher, walked down the aisle again! Fran married her one-year partner, Shiva Ayyadurai, on Sunday at their Malibu, California home.
The 57-year-old TV star revealed her happiness on Twitter by posting a picture of herself with her partner, with a caption: “Surprise!!!!! We got married!”
Drescher’s representative confirmed that the couple “had married in a ceremony at their home in front of just a handful of family and friends,” on Sunday.
The rep also said the bride’s dress was Badgley Mischka and the groom’s ensemble was Ralph Lauren.
The newlywed couple met last year, when Dr. Ayyadurai was giving a talk at an event: “Fran heard my talk and we fell in love, and we’ve been together since that talk. Every day is a celebration with Fran. Every day is almost a romantic hangout with her. We’re always laughing, always enjoying ourselves.”
Dr. Ayyadurai actually owns the patent to email and is often credited as the inventor of the electronic mail system, amid some controversy.
Prior to meeting the inventor, Fran was married to Peter Marc Jacobson for 21 years, until they divorced in 1999, after Peter came out as gay.
The former couple remained close, with Peter being Fran’s producer partner and the basis for her series “Happily Divorced.” Peter and the actress also wrote “The Nanny” together. That show was the one that pushed the distinctive-voiced actress into celebdom.
The unbelievably popular ‘90s sitcom was loosely based on Fran’s life. In the show we can see her character (also called Fran) go from working in a bridal store to working for a wealthy widower as a nanny, who she eventually falls in love with.
