Ellen DeGeneres is known for her generosity and a special bond with her fans, but the funny lady has taken things to a whole new different level.
DeGeneres made a surprise donation worth $20,000 to a single mother in the audience during the taping of her show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Glenda, who is an office manager and a single mom from Toronto spent a sizable portion of her savings on a much needed vacation with her 14-year-old daughter, Ivy, instead of using the money to move out of her mother’s basement.
DeGeneres knows how to appreciate her die-hard fans and upon learning that Glenda and Ivy were in the audience, she chose them for a segment titled “The Last Person Standing Wins Big.”
“You decided this was more important that moving out?” Ellen asked them.
“I hope you all have the same priorities she does,” DeGeneres joked with her studio audience.
DeGeneres then surprised the mother-daughter duo with $20,000, courtesy of Shutterfly, so they could still move into a new place.
