Just when you thought you’ve heard it all, here comes Dolores O’Riordan and headbutts a cop! The former lead singer of The Cranberries has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an air hostess and a police officer.

The 43-year-old O’Riordan was detained at Shannon Airport in Ireland after an incident on a flight from JFK New York City airport. The air hostess was taken to hospital.

It was confirmed that a woman in her forties was arrested, after an Aer Lingus plane landed at 5.30am. The former “cranberry” was taken from the airport to Shannon Garda station, where she can be detained for 24 hours under section four of the Criminal Justice Act and can be questioned on allegations of assault.

A spokesperson for the station gave a statement, in which he said: “Gardai were called to meet the aircraft following an allegation of an assault on a female Aer Lingus air hostess. A Garda was also assaulted during the course of the arrest.”

Apparently, the hostess’ foot was fractured after O’Riordan stamped on it during the incident.

The hostess was taken to the Mid-West Regional Hospital in Limerick for assessment and treatment.

It was also alleged that the singer headbutted and spat at the arresting officer. The officer did not require hospital care. Dolores’ agents did not respond to any of the comments.

The “Zombie” singer is originally from Limerick. She is married with three children and lives in Dublin.

The award-winning musician and singer was just 18 when she became lead singer of the Cranberries. The band was one of the biggest names in the music industry during the 1990’s, selling tens of millions of records.
