Sources close to Bowie say he would have wanted to go “without any fuss” and his wishes were respected by his loved ones.
Bowie passed away on January 11, following an 18-month battle with cancer.
The only way he wished to be remembered was through his music so he released his last album, Blackstar, just days before his death as a parting gift to his fans.
“Look up here, I’m in heaven”, lyrics that open his single “Lazarus”, have propelled Blackstar to the top of the music charts.
Bowie’s work will be honored at Brit’s awards in February, followed by a memorial concert at Carnegie Hall in New York on March 31.
David Bowie was 69 and passed away in the US.
