There was a time when going to the theater was fun for the whole family. However, things are a bit different today, but not because of the ever-rising movie ticket prices.
He was arrested immediately, and after he pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, his trial began. After more than three years of court hearings, Holmes was finally convicted on 165 counts, which included 24 counts of first-degree murder.
E! News reports that the jury’s verdict was not unanimous, due to the fact that Holmes was charged with two counts per killed victim for acting with deliberation and extreme indifference. Nonetheless, the decision has been made, and now he’s set to serve life in prison without the possibility of parole.
There was a good chance that Holmes was going to be sentenced to death. Many would argue that he deserved that, while others feel like this is a worse punishment. Whatever the case may be, we hope that movie theaters are once again a safe and enjoyable place to go to.
