Biography
Jessica Phyllis Lange was her birth name. Born on 20 April 1949, Cloquet, Minnesota, USA. Her father was working as traveling salesman. She earned scholarship and provided to study at the University of Minnesota, but she went to study drama in Paris. And she came back to US in New York as a model.

She was noticed by the producer Dino De Laurentiis who caste her as female lead in King Kong in 1976. The film was worst commented and no result found in box office as well. So Jessica stayed away from the screen for three years to come out of such a tragic flop. Than she did a come back in 1979 with a short role in All That Jazz made by Bob Fosse in 1979. She gave the remarkable performance for the movie Postman Always Rings Twice by Bob Rafelson in 1981. In 1982 she again came up with a bang on performance in Sydney's Pollack's Tootsie. And the same year she did the role of Frances Farmer in the movie Frances.

Jessica was chosen as in Empire Magazine as one of the 100 Sexiest Stars in movie history #64 in 1995. She was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Actress for her performance in Long Day's Journey into Night in 2001. Her performance in Frances in 1982 ranked #85 on Premier Magazine's 100 Greatest Performances of All Time in 2006. Jesse won Oscar for the Best Actress in a Leading Role for the movie Blue Sky in 1995. Won the Oscar for the Best Actress in Supporting Role for the movie Tootsie in 1983. Same year she was also nominated for the Oscar for Best Actress in Leading Role for the movie Frances. She also won the BSFC Award for Best Supporting Actress for Tootsie in 1983. In 1996 she won the two Golden Globe Awards one as Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV for A Streetcar Named Desire in 1996 and other as Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture-Drama for the movie Blue Sky in 1995.
