Biography
Born in Greenville, South Carolina, USA, on October 8, 1941. Jesse Louis Jackson acts as Presidential Candidate, Baptist Minister and Civil Rights Activist. He faced racism from his school days, he was a very good athlete and offered a contract by the Chicago White Sox, as the white players were paid more than black he turned it down. And as he was at University of Illinois he was disqualified to play quarterback as he was black. So at last he joined Agriculture and Technical College of North Carolina in Greensboro which was dominated by black. He was outstanding in athlete, studies and leadership in campus; he took his first step in protest which forced Greensboro, North Carolina to come up with theatres and restaurants.

In 1965 Jesse Jackson announced the head of the Operation Bread Basket in Chicago after getting trained for the ministry at Chicago Theological Seminary and also being attentive in protest movement which was led by Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and Martin Luther King Jr. And he became the national head in 1967. He also helped in creating the Chicago Freedom Movement in 1966 which worked for the integration of open housing and schools. In 1968 when King was assassinated he was standing just besides him. He than became Baptist Minister in which he concentrated his protest for rights in Chicago. He was removed by SCLC from the Operation Breadbasket in 1971. After that he come up with his own organization named People United to Save Humanity (PUSH), it works under variety of fronts for improving African-American lives.

Jesse Jackson was a controversial and charismatic, he was called upon every time when there was a need of rigorous talk for a new African-American leader. He became the first African-American Mayor for Chicago in 1983. Jackson honored with Martin Luther King, Jr. Nonviolent Peace Prize in 1993. He was received with The Spirgram Medal for his political and civil rights achievements. In 2000, he received Presidential Medal of Freedom which was given by President Bill Clinton.
