Biography
Early life
Jeanne Crain was born in Barstow, California to George A. Crain who was a school teacher and Loretta Carr. Her family moved to Los Angeles when she was very young and soon after reaching the city she joined classes to learn ice skating. She was crowned s Miss Pan Pacific at L.A.'s Pan Pacific Auditorium and soon got attention from the Film Industry. Later, while still in high school, she was asked to make a screen test opposite Orson Welles, although she was not selected but later on, at the age of 18, she did a small role in the movie - The Gang's All Here.
Career
Jeanne Crain acted in Home in Indiana and In the Meantime, Darling for which her acting abilities were criticized but she came back with the hit Winged Victory. During this period, Jeanne Crain got a record fan mail and she was also for the Academy Award for Best Actress.
Amaonst her other pieces of art were films like, Cheaper by the Dozen, and People Will Talk (1951). She worked for the Fox Studio and gave an excellent performance as a young wife quickly losing her mind amidst high seas intrigue in Dangerous Crossing, co-starring Michael Rennie.
Personal life
Jeanne Crain married former RKO Studios contract player Paul Brinkman on December 31, 1946, much to the dismay of her mother. The couple bought a large house and had seven children. The marriage was rocky for 11 years, where in both of them accused one another of being unfaithful (she also claimed Brinkman had been abusive), but the couple reconciled on the eve of their 11th wedding anniversary.
The couple was devout Roman Catholics and Jeanne Crain died in October and the cause was a heart attack. Crain's funeral Mass was held at the Old Santa Barbara Mission.
