Jean-Paul Gaultier is a world famous designer known for his exquisite style and culture. It is not known that he ever received any kind of formal training to build his career as a designer, although he worked for famous couture stylists from a very early age. He left his studies to work under Pierre Cardin, who was highly impressed with his skill and hired him as an assistant in 1970.

Launch of his first collection

Jean-Paul Gaultier became famous with his first ever collection that he launched in the fashion market. His collection was released in 1976 and his typical distinctive style soon became the favorite. He came to be known as Bad Boy, for his cheeky and disrespectful origin of styles.

Jean-Paul Gaultier has always been associated with casual street wear clothing. This particular style was popular with the young generation and most importantly for the people who attend office. He launched a new line Haute Couture collections, which were very formal yet at the same time unusual and playful.
Jean-Paul Gaultier has been doing extensive work with high profile personalities like Maddona and Wolford Hosiery since the nineties. He was the fist one to introduce and promote the fashion for skirts, especially kilts on men's wardrobe. He has been both highly criticized and appreciated for his work.
Jean-Paul Gaultier also designed wardrobe for many movies like The Fifth Element, Kika, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, and La Cité des enfants perdus.
At present he works for only three collections - his own He currently designs for three collections: his own dress making house, casual lines, and the newly launched clothing line for Hermès. Hermes is a French leather goods company well-known for their expensive handbags.
Apart from his stint as a fashion designer, Jean-Paul Gaultier is known for his range of perfumes. Amongst the perfumes, his first fragrance, Classique, for women Le Mâle for men are the most famous.
