Vera Jane Palmer was born on 19th April, 1933 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Jayne Mansfield was only three years old when her father died of a heart attack while driving a car. Jayne was the only child and was shocked on his death. After his death the family moved from Pennsylvania to Dallas. At a very early age Jayne desired to become an actress. Jayne visited Hollywood for the first time with her mother when she was thirteen year. She got married at the age of 16 with a student name Paul James Mansfield while attending at Southern Methodist University. With the birth of her first child her acting aspirations were put on a hold temporarily. But she still carried on with her acting classes in Los Angles with her infant daughter strapped on her back. During her stay in Texas Jayne won many beauty contests.
Jayne Mansfield did many odd jobs such as a candy vendor in a L.A theater. Her movie career began with Warner Brothers. At the beginning of Jayne Mansfield's career she was offered minor roles in the movies. In 1955, she went to New York and appeared in a prominent role in the Broadway production of Axel rod's Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? After the success she signed a long-term contract with 20th Century Fox. Mansfield worked with comedy director Frank Tashlin's film The Girls Can't Help It. Jayne's other major career highlight was Kiss Theme for Me. Mansfield was forever typed as a spoof Marilyn Monroe.
After 1959 good roles, publicity and public popularity dried up for Mansfield after she married her second husband Mickey Hargitay who had been Mr. Universe in 1955.Jayne acted on stage as well in films. She also appeared in stage production of Bus Stop which was co-starred by Mickey hargity. Mansfield was married three times, divorced twice, and had five children. Matt Cimber, became Mansfield third husband, became her agent and guided her to projects like Promises, Promises. After these series Mansfield became the first mainstream American actress to appear nude onscreen. Jayne Mansfield's photographs appeared in about 2,500newspapers between 1965 to May 1957.This movie was banned in Cleveland but it made a great box-office in other places. Later Jayne appeared in low-budget West German movies.
Jayne Mansfield died onJun 29, 1967 in Near New Orleans, Louisiana in a car accident when she was 34yrs old. Although Mansfield's actual mode of death was gruesome, she was not beheaded.
