Biography
Chou Jie Lun, is his birth name. Born on 18th January, 1979 in Taipei, Taiwan, China. Graduated from Taipei Tan Jiang High School in 1997. Jay has in depth knowledge in music and likes to play different musical instrument. He started learning piano when he was just 3. He has started his career in music as a songwriter. He uses to write songs since he was sixteen. Jay comes up with the great voice. His songs were treated accordingly to his soft and smooth voice. Jay's parents got divorced, he was 13 at that time. Most amazing fact is he has also come up with the song related to his broken family, "Dad, I am Back".
On 1st November, 2000, Jay brought up with his debut album which was self-titled Jay. Album heard by many music lovers and he was accepted widely. His soulful voice and unique style of music attracted fans and evenly by the critics. In September, 2001, Jay launches his second album Fantasy, album comes out of many hit numbers such as "Kai Bu Liao Kou", "Shuang Jie Gun" and "An Jing". After the huge success Jay launched his first ever music concert series, which was known to be Fantasy Tour. In 2003, he stepped into acting as a special appearance in the movie Hidden Track. He did not take up acting as a career but it was his dream to act. He also composed two songs for the movie. Jay's much awaited work was seen from the album Qi Li Xiang, in 2004 summer, he gathered many awards with this album.
Jay's first breakthrough lead role comes up in 2005, in movie Initial D
Directed by duo Andrew Lau and Alan Mak, the movie was a blockbuster.
For his album Fantasy, Jay won many awards and even 5 "Golden Melody Awards" (2001). In 2002, Jay won "Channel V award" for the Best Male Singer. He won the award for Best Newcomer for the movie Initial D in "42nd Golden Horse Awards" and also the same in "25th Hong Kong Film Awards".
