Biography
Jason Alexander is an actor who has appeared in musical theatre, movies and television. He is best known by far for having played the character of George Costanza in the long running and exceptionally popular TV sitcom "Seinfeld".
Jason Alexander was born Jason Scott Greenspan in Newark, New Jersey in the year 1959. His birthday is the twenty third of September. After graduating from Livingston High School in 1977, Jason Alexander attended Boston University, but left after three years to start acting in Broadway musicals. Jason Alexander's first roles were in stage shows like Stephen Sondheim's "Merrily We Roll Along", Neil Simon's "Broadway Bound", and Jerome Robbins' "Broadway". In 1989, Jason Alexander received the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his appearance in "Broadway". He also appeared in a McDonald's commercial during the eighties for the McDLT sandwich where he dances and sings a snappy song.
As "George Costanza" on the long running sitcom "Seinfeld", Jason Alexander found the role that he would forever be associated with. His bumbling neurotic character was the perfect complement to Jerry Seinfeld's easy going persona. "Seinfeld" ran for nine seasons and became more popular as time went on, being the most popular sitcom in its sixth and ninth years and going out on a wave of popularity.
After "Seinfeld" ended, Jason Alexander appeared in more film and television roles, and has gone back to playing musical roles. In 2003, Jason Alexander acted in "The Producers" in L.A., and in 2004 he appeared as the Ghost of Jacob Marley in a musical version of "A Christmas Carol" that featured Kelsey Grammer as Scrooge.
As of early 2007 Jason Alexander continues to appear in television and film roles, recently having been in the movie "How to Go Out on a Date in Queens" and in a twenty two episode run on the TV series "Listen Up".
