Biography
Jasmine Trias is a singer. She became well known in America when she placed third on the third season of the massively popular call-in music competition "American Idol". Her popularity on the show stemmed largely from support from Hawaii, the state that she comes from, although she also enjoyed general popularity across the nation and from California and New York. Since "American Idol", Jasmine Trias has released two music albums.
Jasmine Trias was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in the year 1986. Her birthday is the third of November. She was eighteen years old when she appeared on the third season of "American Idol" in 2004. With tremendous support from her home state of Hawaii she got farther than many people expected, ultimately being the third place winner of the season. After "American Idol", Jasmine Trias was honored with many music awards and entertainer awards. Her debut album won Pop Album of the Year and Jasmine Trias won Best New Artist of the Year at the Hawaii Music Awards in 2006. In addition to her American debut album, Jasmine Trias has released an album in the Philippines, as she is the daughter of Filipino immigrants.
In the Philippines, Jasmine Trias has met President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and toured in support of her album. She has also been heavily featured in the marketing of McDonald's, appearing on billboards and TV commercials and singing a song with the Filipino version of the McDonald's slogan.
While the Jasmine Trias solo album released in the United States has not sold very well - only thirty thousand copies (possibly because it took a year to be released and the original cover image was poor), the album released in the Philippines has done very well and sold over a million copies.
As of early 2007 Jasmine Trias continues to pursue her musical career and to appear on reality TV shows, particularly in the Philippines, but also on MTV's "Total Request Live" where she will comment on the sixth season of "American Idol".
