Jasmine Guy is an actress. She is best remembered for appearing in the popular early nineties sitcom "A Different World" as the character Whitley Gilbert.
Jasmine Guy was born in Boston, Massachusetts in the year 1964. Her birthday is the tenth of March. Jasmine Guy's father was an African American pastor and her mother was European / American. Despite being born in Boston, Jasmine Guy grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. After she finished going to Northside High School, Jasmine Guy attended Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in New York City. Her first appearance on screen was in the television series "Fame" (a spin off of the movie) in 1982, where she appeared as a dancer in ten episodes. Jasmine Guy found other small parts during the late eighties, particularly in made for TV movies like "At Mother's Request", "Runaway" and "A Killer Among Us", before her career as an actress took off with her casting as Whitley Marion Gilbert Wayne on the sitcom "A Different World".
"A Different World" ran from 1987 to 1993, and Jasmine Guy appeared in one hundred and thirty six episodes of the show. She is still best known today for her run on "A Different World". After the show ended, she continued to find TV roles at a rapid pace, guest starring on shows like "Melrose Place", "The Outer Limits", "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" and "Touched By An Angel".
As of early 2007 Jasmine Guy continues to appear in various television programs. While she has had a few film appearances since the turn of the millennium in movies like "Dying on the Edge" and "Diamond Men", her most consistent new role has been on the series "Dead Like Me", where she played the part of Roxy Harvey for twenty four episodes. She has also appeared last year on "That's So Raven!". Having produced a record album in 1990 but had bad experience with the music industry, she has recently announced that she will soon record a new album and distribute it herself on the internet.
