Biography
Jamie Lee Curtis is an actress originally best known for her prolific appearances in horror films and suspense thrillers during the horror movie boom of the eighties. She has developed into other acting roles during the nineties and has become a more wide ranging actress.
Jamie Lee Curtis was born in Los Angeles, California in the year 1958. Her birthday is the twenty second of November. After graduating from high school, during which time she attended Westlake School for Girls, Beverly Hills High School and Choate Rosemary Hall, Jamie Lee Curtis went to college at the University of the Pacific. She dropped out of college her freshman year however, and became an actress with Universal Studios.
Her first film appearance was in John Carpenter's "Halloween", an independent film that was extremely successful in theatres (more than any other independent film had been in history at the time of its release) and helped to launch the horror movie boom of the early eighties. Jamie Lee Curtis played the only teenage character in the film to be stalked by the killer and not die. Other Jamie Lee Curtis roles in subsequent horror films continued to sell well and earned her the nickname the "Scream Queen". Jamie Lee Curtis's movie from this period include "The Fog", "Prom Night", "Terror Train", and "Halloween II". She has continued to appear in all the "Halloween" sequels across the decades but has expanded into other roles. In 1983 she appeared in the classic Dan Akroyd / Eddie Murphy comedy "Trading Places" and in 1988 starred in "A Fish Called Wanda". She combined her abilities to suspense and comedy in the 1994 Schwarzenegger hit "True Lies".
As of early 2007 Jamie Lee Curtis continues to appear in film roles. In recent years she has appeared in numerous family oriented movies such as "Freaky Friday" and "Christmas with the Kranks".
