Biography
James Marsden is an actor. He is best known for appearing in the role of the hero character Cyclops in the "X-Men" movies. He has also recently appeared in "Superman Returns".
James Marsden was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in the year 1973. His birthday is the eighteenth of September. After graduating from Putnam City North High School in Oklahoma City, James Marsden started finding acting roles in the early nineties. His first jobs were one off parts on television series including "The Nanny", "Saved by the Bell", "Touched by an Angel", "Blossom", "Second Noah", "The Outer Limits" and "Party of Five".
His big break came in the year 2000, when James Marsden was cast as Cyclops, one of two male lead roles in "X-Men" (the other was Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman). James Marsden played the heroic mutant who was the leader of the X-Men and fought the villain Magneto who had a scheme to turn the leaders of the world into mutants (which would actually have killed them). His mutant power was the ability to fire a concentrated laser beam from his eyes, which he usually controls using a special ruby tinted visor. The "X-Men" movie was a successful summer blockbuster which led to James Marsden reprising the role of Cyclops in 2003 and again in 2006 as sequels in the series were produced. James Marsden's fame from "X-Men" allowed him to appear in more big budget Hollywood films including "Zoolander", "The Notebook", and most recently "Superman Returns", where he plays Richard White, the man who Lois Lane married when Superman disappeared from the planet.
As of early 2007 James Marsden continues to appear in film roles. His acting career is in good condition although his character in the X-Men was killed in "X-3". Upcoming movies that James Marsden will have roles in include "Hairspray" and "Enchanted".
