James Blunt is a singer / songwriter from England. He has been nominated for several Grammys and has recently rocketed to fame on the strength of his international hit single "You're Beautiful".

James Blunt was born in Tidworth, Wiltshire England in the year 1974. His birthday is the twenty second of February. James Blunt's family has served in the British military for many generations, and he was no exception, attending the Royal Military Academy after graduating from Bristol University, and becoming a Captain who served in Kosovo as part of the NATO peacekeeping force.

After James Blunt's military career ended he started a singing / songwriting career, using songs some of which had been written during and inspired by his experiences in NATO and the British Army. Originally being signed to EMI Music, he was discovered by Linda Perry (who had produced songs for Pink, Christina Aguilera and Courtney Love) and brought to her personal record label for his debut album.

In late 2004 James Blunt finished recording the album "Back to Bedlam", and singles were released over the course of the following year. The surprise hit was the third single from the album, "You're Beautiful", which quickly rose to the number one position on both sides of the Atlantic. The sudden summer success of "You're Beautiful" caused a spike in sales of the "Back to Bedlam" album, boosting it back to number one. The success of the single spread across England and Europe before hopping to America and becoming one of the most popular radio songs of late summer and autumn 2005.

Powered by the success of the single, James Blunt has toured worldwide. He has faced backlash from his sudden success, being regarded as annoying and uncharacteristic of England by several British rock musicians. "You're Beautiful" has continued to be successful and a staple of radio play lists, as well as the most requested wedding song in the U.K.

As of early 2007 James Blunt continues to tour and to record music.
