Biography
Irene Wan is an actress with a career in Hong Kong cinema.
She is best known in Hong Kong for movies such as "Everlasting Love", and "All of a Sudden". She has had a film career for over two decades, becoming popular in Hong Kong for a series of movie appearances during the eighties and more recently starring in TV drama programs since a turn of popularity in the mid nineties.
Irene Wan was born in Hong Kong in the year 1966. Her birthday is the 30th of July. Becoming interested in acting at a young age, she appeared in her first film role in the movie "Everlasting Love" when she was seventeen years old. In this film she played opposite Andy Lau and Loletta Lee. Known for her beauty and honest looking appeal, Irene Wan appeared in many movies throughout the eighties and nineties including "Caper", "Love Unto Waste", "China's Last Eunuch", "Tiger Cage", "Bloody Brotherhood", "Armageddon", "Fatal Vacation", "Touch and Go", "The Tigers", and "In the Lap of God". Irene Wan's career then peaked with her role in 1996's "Jing bian" ("All of a Sudden"). "All of a Sudden" is a romantic crime drama. The movie caused a stir in 1996 as it was the first time Irene Wan had appeared naked onscreen, but failed to resonate with audiences and Irene Wan's popularity was lessened.
Irene Wan continued to appear in films throughout the late nineties and past the turn of the millennium. Her roles within the more recent years have included parts in "Long Way From Home" and "Tragic Room", and she has appeared in starring roles in a number of television dramas on TVB. In the western world, she is still best known for "All of a Sudden", although Irene Wan is mostly known to fans of Hong Kong films and has not become an international star.
