Ilse DeLange is a Dutch country and pop singer who is best known for her 2000 album Livin' On Love.
Ilse DeLange was born in Almelo, Netherlands on May 13, 1977. She began singing at eight years of age, performing as a lipsing-artist. She won several contests. She eventually switched to liverpertoire which gained more attention. Despite a performance at the 1994 Dutch Country Music Awards, Ilse DeLange didn't gain attention until her formed the pop group Wif. In 1998, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee in the United States where she released her debut album World of Hurt. The album was a success in the Netherlands, selling 450,000 copies and garnering her a TMF and an Edison Award.
In 1999 she recorded her follow up album Dear John and began a mini tour. The album went platinum. In 2000, she released her best known album Livin' On Love. It went platinum, also, and peaked at number five on the Dutch charts. That year, she won the Edison Award for best Dutch artist. In 2001, she began touring for the album. The same year, her music label made a push for her first album World of Hurt to be released in the American market, however American record labels showed little interest.
In 2002, Ilse DeLange began working on her third album, Clean Up, which was released in 2003. All of the lyrics were written by Ilse, and in October of that year released Here I Am - 1998/2003. That album also went platinum. In 2006, she released The Great Escape. The self-titled single went gold and then platinum and debuted at number one on the Dutch Top 40 chart. In October, 2006, she received her second TMF Award.
