Ian Somerhalder is an actor and producer. He is also a male fashion model. He is best known for his role on the hit television series Lost.

Ian Somerhalder was born in Covington, Louisiana on December 8, 1978. He has two siblings. When he was thirteen, his parents divorced and he went to live with his mother. When he was ten, his mother encouraged him to begin his career as a fashion model. He modeled in Milan, Paris, London and New York for designers such as Calvin Klein, American Eagle Outfitters and Dolce & Gabbana. He was also the face the Guess? for two fall seasons. He continues to model.

While still modeling, Ian Somerhalder began to study acting. His first break came in the film The Rules of Attraction. His resume also includes television appearances in the TV series Smallville, CSI: Miami, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In 2004, he was cast in the television series Lost as Boone Carlyle, his most important role to date. More television roles came after the Lost casting including Fearless and Marco Polo. His film roles include Recess, In Enemy Hands, Pulse and The Sensation of Sight.
