Howie Day is a singer-songwriter who is best known for his gold album Stop All The World Now and the single Collide.

Howie Day was born in Bangor, Maine on January 15, 1981. Showing an early interest in music, he began to play the piano at the age of five. He learned to play by ear and was soon imitating commercial jingles on the family piano. At 13, he also began playing the guitar and at 16 made his first public appearance, singing at a Bangor bar called Captain Nick's. He continued playing with a local band, Route 66 through 1997. He quit college in 1998 after playing at a college showcase and receiving four months of bookings.

In 1999 he began recording his debut album, Australia, which was primarily financed by his own tour dates. The album was released in 2000 the album was released and went on to sell 30,000 copies via Internet and at his shows. In 2002, Howie Day was signed to Epic Records, which released Australia to stores. Later that year, he moved to London to record his second album.

In 2003, Stop All The World Now was recorded and released and a tour quickly followed. The single "Collide" was the most popular single and was used in television shows Scrubs and One Tree Hill as well as the movie Pride & Prejudice, released in 2005. The album was certified gold in 2005.

Later that year, his third album, Live From. . ., was released. It included several covers from his pervious albums and a cover of Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over". He is currently at work on his next album

In 2004, Howie Day gained attention from the law after being accused of locking one fan in a bathroom and the destroying the cell phone of another. He was fined for the actions. In 2005 he was arrested in Boston for verbally abusing flight crew members while under the influence of alcohol and sleeping pills. He was sentenced to a year's probation for that incident.
