Hilarie Burton is an actress who is best known for playing the role of Peyton Sawyer on One Tree Hill.
Hilarie Burton was born in Sterling, Virginia on July 1, 1982. She is the oldest of four siblings (she has three younger brothers!). Hilarie Burton became active in Park View High School's drama club in high school and appeared in several school plays. In addition to a passion for drama, Hilarie Burton was a cheerleader and the school president. After high school, she moved to New York City where she attended New York University and Fordham University.
Her big break came as a VJ for MTV's Total Request Live, but she was originally on supposed to be a guest host. After TRL, Hilarie Burton landed a small role on the WB Network's Dawson's Creek. Then in 2003 she was cast in One Tree Hill.
In addition to television roles, Hilarie Burton has several movie roles under her belt including Our Very Own, Solstice, Normal Adolescent Behavior and The List, due out in 2007.
Hilarie Burton lives in New York City and in North Carolina, where One Tree Hill is taped. She enjoys listening to music by David Bowie, Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn. She has a cat named Poe and enjoys collecting antiques and knitting.
