Duff was born in Houston, Texas. Her mother, Susan Duff, is a producer. Robert Erhard Duff, Haylie's father, resides at the family home in Houston to maintain the family's convenience store business. Haylie is two and a half years older than her sister, Hilary, who is well known for her own music career and as the title character of the television series Lizzie McGuire.
