Hank Azaria is an Emmy-award winning actor, comedian and voice artist. He is best known for his voice-over work on the animated show The Simpsons and his portrayal of Nat, the dog walker, on Mad About You.
Hank Azaria was born in Forest Hills, Queens on April 25, 1964. His parents were Sephardic Jews who emigrated to the United States from Greece. He attended The Kew Forest School in Forest Hills and later attended Tufts University where he studied drama. He started in show business as a stand up comedian. His big break came in 1989 when he began doing voice work for the animated series The Simpsons.
Hank Azaria has voiced more than 160 characters on The Simpsons animated television show, as well a providing the voice for Eddie Brock/Venom in the Spider-Man animated series in the 1990s. In addition to voice work, he has appeared in television series such as Friends, Mad About You and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. His film roles include parts in movies such as The Birdcage, Mystery Men, Mystery, Alaska and America's Sweethearts. In 2000, he won an Emmy for his role in the television movie Tuesday's With Morrie. He has also won Emmy awards for his work on The Simpsons. Television and film roles were followed by roles on the stage. In 2003 he starred in the London production of Sexual Perversity in Chicago and in the Chicago production of Spamalot. In December 2004, he began acting in the Broadway production of the same show.
In 2005, Hank Azaria was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his role in Spamalot.
