Haley Joel Osment is an Academy award-nominated actor, best known for his role in the film The Sixth Sense.
Haley Joel Osment was born in Los Angeles on April 10, 1988. He attended Flintridge Preparatory School and now attends New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. He began acting in commercials at four years of age.
Haley Joel Osment's first film role was playing Forrest Gump's son in the Tom Hanks film of the same name. Roles on television shows such as The Jeff Foxworthy Show and Murphy Brown followed before he turned his attention fully to film. His first blockbuster film role came in 1999 with the triller The Sixth Sense, in which is played a child with the ability to see and interact with ghosts. The role won his the Saturn Award for Best Young Actor and an academy award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
In 2000, Haley Joel Osment starred in Pay It Forward and in 2001 came a starring role in AI: Artificial Intelligence. That role helped him win a second Saturn Award for Best Young Actor. He voiced roles in the cartoon movies The Country Bears and The Jungle Book 2 before returning to live action films with a role in Secondhand Lions. He has also voiced characters for video games.
In 2006, the actor was in a drunken driving accident which happened after he attended a Muse concert. On behalf of the actor, his lawyer pleaded no contest to two of the four misdemeanor charges in connection with the accident, two other charges were dropped. Haley Joel Osment was sentenced to three years of probation, was fined and sentenced to 60 hours of alcohol rehabilitation and must attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings until he is 26 years old.
