Gwyneth Paltrow is an American actress who is probably best known for her Academy award winning role in the 1998 hit Shakespeare in Love.
Gwyneth Paltrow was born in Los Angeles on September 27, 1972. She was raised in Santa Monica, the daughter of the late director Bruce Paltrow and actress mother Blythe Danner. She attended the Crossroads School in Los Angeles and Spence School in New York before briefly studying art history at the University of California, Santa Barbara. After a brief stint at the school, she committed herself to acting.
Gwyneth Paltrow made her debut on the big screen with 1991's Shout. In 1995, she starred with Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman in Se7en, and followed that film with 1996's Emma. In 1998, Gwyneth Paltrow won a role in Shakespeare in Love, which was nominated for several Academy Awards. She won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in the film. She also won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role from the Screen Actors Guild. Since the award winning role, Gwyneth Paltrow has continued to act is smaller roles, including Duets, Shallow Hal, Proof, View From The Top and The Royal Tenenbaums. The film Duets also showcased the actresses singing ability. Her on-screen duet with Huey Lewis, a cover of Smokey Robinson's "Cruisin'" was a Top 40 hit in the United States.
In addition to acting and singing, Gwyneth Paltrow was named the new face of Estee Lauder's Pleasures perfume in 2005.
Gwyneth Paltrow married Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in 2003. The pair have a daughter, Apple, born in 2004 and a son Moses born in 2006. She practices Yoga and is vegan. After the death of her father, she announced that she was battling depression. The actress practices a macrobiotic (whole grains, no sugar) diet.
