Biography
Guy Ritchie is an English film writer and director, best known for his directorial debut Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Guy Ritchie was born in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England on September 10, 1968. He is dyslexic and at the age of 15 he was expelled from Stanbridge Earls, a private school which specializes in dyslexic education. Next, he attended the Sibford School in Oxfordshire where he was also expelled. Despite these early upheavals, Guy Ritchie is an accomplished writer and director. In 1995, he directed the 20 minute short film The Hard Case, and in 1998 his Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, a crime caper, was released to critical acclaim. In 2000 he was awarded the Edgar Award for Best Motion Picture Screenplay from the Mystery Writers of America. The same year, he released Snatch, another crime caper with witty dialogue. Brad Pitt, Benecio del Torro and Dennis Farina signed on to the project, which was well received by audiences around the world.

After marrying American pop icon Madonna in 2000, he also collaborated with her in film. He directed a remake of 1960's film Swept Away, with Madonna in the lead role. The film was panned by critics and audiences alike. Soon after, Guy Ritchie returned to his writing and directing roots with the caper film Revolver. Guy Ritchie was also involved in the English hidden camera show Swag for channel 5 in the U.K. The show tried to turn the tables on real life criminals by catching them in the act.

In 2000, Guy Ritchie met and married American pop icon Madonna. The two have a son, Rocco John, and are in the process of adopted a Malawian boy. Guy Ritchie is also the step-father of Madonna's daughter, Lourdes. The pair and their family have homes in London, Los Angeles and New York. They also have a country estate in England. The two study the Jewish mystical religion Kabbala. Guy Ritchie is also a fan of the Chelsea Football Club.
