Biography
Vanity Fair Magazine cover girl Gretchen Mol may have small roles in films but casting directors love her as they have managed to put her in more than 30 films to date. From her 1996 spot in Spike Lee's Girl 6 to her 2007 film 3:10 to Yuma, she has portrayed a diverse group of characters.

Born in Deep River Connecticut, Mol recognized early on the performing arts were to be apart of her life as her mother, an artist herself, was a great influence. Focused on an acting career, Mol studied at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and graduated from the William Esper Studio. She did not get an acting job immediately following graduation but was content to work as a film usher for awhile.

Working in film became reality when she was spotted by a talent agent in New York's Hell's Kitchen who saw her working then as a hat check girl. From there she went on to work in a Coca-Cola commercial and later she was to be picked for a Central Park black and white spread which was said to be so impressive that she was offered the cover of W Magazine.

Modeling was acceptable to Mol for awhile but not her true passion. So when she met agent Larry Taub of the William Morris Agency in 1998, she was grateful to be able to make the switch to films. Among her list of credits is the film Rounders which starred Matt Damon. Mol was also in Woody Allen's Celebrity along with Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio.

Many of the films Mol was in were unsuccessful at the box office. As a result, she was not able to always maintain the success of her early career years. She did make a comeback in 2006 when she appeared in The Notorious Bettie Page. Her stage career has been a little steadier over the years and has included the successful Broadway production Chicago. For three years she dated film director Kip Williams before marrying him in June, 2004. They reside in Mahattan's West Village.
