Biography
Even today, more than 40 years after she first appeared on television, Goldie is still reminded about her golden girl or bubbly blonde image she has created for herself during her career.
But with a name like Goldie, she figures it is fair game.
The golden-haired beauty has a long legacy of fan adoration behind her since she started appearing on shows like Good Morning World, a short-lived sitcom shown in the 1960s, and Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In when she got to show off her dancing talent.
Films followed shortly after her television debut. Three of them came out in 1968 but were considered largely forgettable by reviewers' standards. The Cactus Flower, however, which came out the year after, won her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar and cemented her star factor.
Three comedies followed this film but by 1974, Hawn was making her first drama, The Sugarland Express, with Steven Spielberg.
By 1978, the chum of Sally Field was to meet her next big co-star Chevy Chase in Foul Play. The following year, she gave birth to her daughter Kate Hudson which brought up a custody battle for the young mom who was divorcing her second husband Bill Hudson the same year.
In 1980, she came back to the big screen to executive produce and star in Private Benjamin that won her a Best Actress Oscar.
Other films from that decade for Hawn included Wildcats, Overboard and Bird on a Wire which was released in 1990.
Two of Hawn's memorable comedies of the 1990s were HouseSitter with Steve Martin and Death Becomes Her with fellow award-winning actress Meryl Streep. She also made a big hit when she starred in, alongside Diane Keaton and Bette Midler, the 1996 film The First Wives Club
In 2003, Hawn founded Cosmic Entertainment along with her long-time partner and fellow actor Kurt Russell and children Kate and Oliver Hudson. In January 2004, the 58-year-old actress became grandmother when her daughter gave birth to son Ryder Russell Robinson.
She has three children and lives in Vancouver, BC Canada with her family.
