Biography
Naming Geri Ginger wasn't a difficult stretch.
The English pop singer and songwriter, who discovered fame when she took on this identity with the hugely popular Spice Girls all-girl band, was a fiery, sexy redhead who could not be named any other spice, the group felt.
The now blonde was also the foundation of the group who became renowned for her feminist attitude despite the fact she drew a lot of attention for her sex appeal.
Unofficially, she was considered the group's leader as she led her fellow musicians through a success story that culminated in the sale of more than 35-million albums.
The song that started their story?
Wannabe which reached the top song chart position in 37 countries across the globe including Australia, Canada and the US.
Songs that followed and did equally as well included Spice Up Your Life, Too Much and Stop.
Despite their unprecedented success, Halliwell wanted her own career so left the band in 1998.
Her first solo music video Look at Me came out in 1999, the same year that marked the release of her debut solo album Schizophonic In 2001, she released her second album Scream If You Wanna Go Faster.
By the following year, Halliwell was tiring of the whole music scene and decided to take a break from the pressures of stardom. It was not long, however, before she was back at it and working on her third album Passion. The lack of Passion sales caused Halliwell to reevaluate her situation again. While doing so, she gave birth to her daughter Bluebell Madonna on May 14, 2006. The name, she told reporters was reminiscent of her childhood days when her mother used to talk about how rare the flower is and the second name was for her two favorite idols - Madonna and the Virgin Madonna.
