Work hard enough and you will get what you want in life.
Model, film producer and big time British personality Gail Porter seemed to subscribe to that theory all of her life.
In school, she worked so hard at her studies, she was considered a snob.
Rarely seen with her head above the books, Porter was an ambitious student who excelled in her classes.
The hard work led her straight to film school and her first job in the business, working with a video production company in the menial position of runner. Never one to shy away from doing whatever it took to move up the career ladder, Porter took on all of these jobs with enthusiasm.
She did not have to run for coffee and scrub offices for long though before she was producing her own show reel, a collection of interviews with people from her hometown of Edinburgh, Scotland.
The piece was followed by her signing on with children's television and presenting cartoons to keep them entertained.
She tired of the limitations of children's television and opted for adult audiences who liked the British shows Live and Kicking, Melinda's Big Night In and The Movie Chart Show which she hosted.
