Biography
Born Declan Patrick MacManus in London in 1954, Elvis Costello is a well-known and talented musician. At the age of seventeen when Costello moved to Birkenhead he formed his first band, Rusty. When he moved to London he formed a new band, Flip City, in 1974 and remained with that band until 1976. However, he decided to go for a solo career and was eventually signed with Stiff Records, which was where he officially started going by Elvis Costello.

Costello released his first album, My Aim is True, in 1977. The album was received well and reached the top twenty in Britain and the Top 40 in the United States. Costello formed his own backup band consisting of Steve Nieve, Bruce Thomas, and Pete Thomas, to form Costello and the Attractions. In December of that year, Costello and The Attractions were invited to perform for Saturday Night Live to fill in for The Sex Pistols at the last minute.

Costello's appearance on SNL that night would help cement him in the public eye, but not in the way he had hoped. Costello wanted to play his single, "Radio Radio", but his US record label wanted him to perform something else that was already an established song to draw attention. Costello originally started out singing "Less than Zero", but stopped playing shortly after he began and then told the audience that he was going to do another song and played "Radio Radio" instead. This resulted in Costello being banned from SNL for twelve years. In 2000 Costello made fun of this event by breaking into the Beastie Boys' performance of "Sabotage" and performing "Radio Radio" with them.

Costello has had a prolific career, continuing to release albums throughout the 80's, 90's, and the 2000's. He has also been married three times. From 1974-1984 he was married to Mary Burgoyne and has a son, Matthew with her. From 1986-2002 he was married to Cait O'Riordan. He is currently married to Diana Krall since 2003 and the couple had twin sons Dexter Henry Lorcan and Frank Harlan James in 2006.

Costello has also has some success in films and guest spots in television shows. His film debut was in 1979's Americathon. He has also made appearances in movies like Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, 200 Cigarettes, and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby as himself. He's also been seen on television series such as Frasier in 2003 where he played a character named Ben.
