Biography
Born in Massachusetts in 1974 and originally named Elizabeth Mitchell, actress Elizabeth Banks has been making quite a name for herself in recent years. Banks changed her name when she began acting because there was another actress named Elizabeth Mitchell and she wanted to avoid any possible confusion.
When she left home Banks went to the University of Pennsylvania and graduated in the top percentile of her class before moving on to attend an advanced program at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Eventually she graduated from there in 1998 before moving to New York to work in the theater before she began landing some small roles in television series and movies.
The first role that succeeded in garnering her a wider recognition was that of the secretary Betty Brant in the 2002 release of Spider-Man, and she later returned to the role in Spider-Man 2 in 2004. After getting a few other small performances that year in Swept Away and Catch Me If You Can, she landed a slightly larger role in the 2003 hit Seabiscuit.
Banks later received her first leading roles in movies like The Baxter and Slither. The 2006 release of the movie, Invincible saw Banks co-starring as Mark Walhberg's love interest. Later she also began a strong, reoccurring role in the television sitcom, Scrubs in the 2006-2007 season. She is also due to be in the 2007 release of Spider-Man 3 as she follows up her role as Betty Brant in the popular movie series.
Along with her willingness and dedication to work, she is set to star in four other movies in 2007 alone, her charm and openness to audiences has attracted large amounts of attention in her favor. It is a sure bet that her sunny appearance will eventually lead to a lot more success as she continues her rise up through the ranks of Hollywood royalty.
