An actress, Elisa Donovan was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, in 1971. She grew up on Long Island and found that she had a love for acting, gym, dancing, and horseback riding from an early age. At the tender age of twelve she began studying acting more seriously.
This love of the dramatic continued on through college, where Donovan writing, literature, and acting classes at the liberal arts school The New School for Social Research in New York City. She also took her study of acting outside of the traditional classroom setting and attended classes at the Michael Chekhov Studio in New York and with Larry Moss in Los Angeles.
Although she starred in a couple of episodes of the hit television series, Blossom, in 1994 Donovan's real breakthrough came with her role of Amber in the 1995 hit movie, Clueless. In the film she starred as an entitled princess of California alongside the likes of Alicia Silverstone, Brittany Murphy, Paul Rudd, and Donald Faison.
During the two years before the movie, from 1993 to 1995, Donovan had a hard time dealing with anorexia. In 1994 her weight dropped down to only 90 pounds. However, Donovan was able to overcome this battle and even wrote a story about her struggle with the devastating disease in Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul. She also has a story in the book Feeding the Fame chronicling her problems with anorexia and her subsequent recovery.
Since then she has made notable appearances in several television shows and movies like NCIS, Judging Amy, and A Night at the Roxbury. However, her most well known character has been that of Morgan Cavanaugh in Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. She played Morgan in sixty episodes from 2000 to 2003.
